Family Fun with Heart

Posted on July 6, 2015

There are so many wonderful things about the tiny town of Santa Claus, Indiana: Cool Christmas-themed streets, neat Santa Statues everywhere, and lots of places that focus on family fun. But that’s not even the best part about this town. It’s the people that make this area such a wonderful place. And those people create wonderful moments that families take with them and cherish long after they return home from their visit. This is one of those moments. We thought we would share a story that caught our attention – it has over 4,000 shares on Facebook – and meant a lot to a few recent visitors: Today Isabella and I traveled to Owensboro to visit my grandpa who isn't doing well. On the way back we turned off to go through Santa Claus with intentions of stopping for water/coffee. We decided to run into the Christmas store to look around and use the restroom. We were surprised to walk by and see a Santa Claus working. Long story short, he saw us in a different room looking at ornaments and struck up a conversation with Isabella who told him where we had been. He made the comment about the doctor’s ability to make papa better and how in times like these we need to pray. Isabella said she had been. He walked over and stood next to her and said, "Do you mind if I pray with you?" She said yes and they walked into his room where he took her by the hands.  Santa.jpg Right there in the middle of the Christmas store, he prayed the sweetest prayer for our family. What an impact this man made on a nine-year-old today.
